After a safe and delayed arrival the 2013 sports tour has come to an end. A great success both on and off the field the students were great ambassadors for the school.
There is going to be further updates over the course of the next couple of weeks with the final match reports, photos and videos uploaded.
The U16 rugby team have been reflecting on their performances through some videos, these are on the posterous site (accessed through the link on the right hand side of this page).
The blog will be kept open for students to look back on in the weeks, months and maybe even years to come.

U14 rugby match reports
Game 2 - Bintang
The second day of rugby was also a great day for the under 14s. Despite the early start, we were all pumped and ready to go. The under 14 a's were up straight after a good win for the under 16s. Following that result, after a scoreless first half the Bintang defence was finally broken when Ollie smashed through and scored. After that, their defence started tiring and we scored twice more including a great team try finished by Issam. Next, the B team were up and it didn't start well when they scored under the posts but their kicker failed to convert. Then we started to play well with tries from Harry and Saif in the first half. In the second half we played excellent rugby and we were rewarded with a quick sucession of tries from Chris, Oisin, Saif and Mattie among others and Oisin kept the scoreboard ticking over with his accurate kicking.
The second round of games were not as one sided although both teams did still win. The A team's game was a good, close affair where they lead 10-0 at half time thanks to two tries from Ollie but it could have been more. In the second half they came back with an unconverted try to ensure a nervy ending to the game which was made worse when Frazer got yellow carded but thankfully we held on to the lead. Then the B's came on making sure that we weren't over confident after our big win. This time we started better, scoring the first try. We were three tries to the good when they pulled one back right before half time but we quickly ended any hope they had of a comeback with further tries by Chris, Scott and Oisin.
Overall it was a good day of rugby by both teams and we came out with a 100% record for the day.

A team netball reports
A team match report vs AIS
Todays match was played in an inside court as well, there were many things that didn't play to our advantage like the slippery courts and us being tired due to a long day at Sentosa!! Another problem was also our mindset, we weren't prepared for the game and hope to learn from our mistakes made today. One of our main problems was not snatching the ball and being aggressive enough and not driving for the ball. However, our strength lay in intercepting passes and if we had been focused from the beginning we would have had a better chance of winning instead of losing 20-8.

B team
Match report 1
Yesterday was our first match in Kuala Lumpur against a team called Alice Smith School. Our team played amazingly, winning 19-11, which Kristi and Sabrina helped us get with their great shooting. Everyone worked extremely hard although it was very hot and humid, and the subs were very encouraging cheering the team on! After the match we had a small ceremony where we presented Alice Smith with a DC netball and shamal, to thank them for having us and supplying us with water and oranges.
Match report 2
Our next match was against Sengalor, unfortunately we lost 7-4 but we had a great learning experience by watching our opponents incorporating new techniques in to the game. To say the least we had different styles of playing
Therefore in the future we can be prepared for unique tactics. We would have been able to get a few more goals, but their defence was strong and intense and they had an interesting chant which distracted us with its catchy tune.
Match report 3
After that we had the amazing opportunity to play against another expatriate school but sadly we lost 17-14 . Their skill set was above their years and the umpire was very strict (we found out about a few new rules) - but all in all the girls were very accommodating and welcoming. As the opposition only had 6 players, one member on our team had to swap and play with them to make the game fair, so it was very odd for some people to be playing against their own team members, but everybody showed great sportsmanship and still played their very best.

Sentosa Island
Today compromised of some adrenaline rushes at Universal Studios followed by some time on the wave machine for the U16 boys and the fourth match of the tour for the girls.
The girls were busy on their match reports for the last couple of games over the final tour meal, I will look at getting these from Mrs Adamson.
