A team match reports, by Kitty Wilson
Yesterday was our first match in KL, unlike dubai, the humidity was extreme meaning we sweat buckets, as well as this we were on an open court so exposed to the sun and all turned pink! Despite losing 12-10, we had a really good match and played to the best we could as it was our first day there and the humidity was overwhelming. Our defence and attack were solid and we drove towards the ball however, our passing from the centre third to the goal third was lacking strength meaning the opposition got the ball more often than we hoped for. Despite their aggression on the court, the opposition were very welcoming and supplied us with water and oranges throughout the game. After the matches, we had a small ceremony to present them with a shamal and ball to thank them for having us and then team pictures were taken but just Rebecca's luck, she had her first nose-bleed as the camera snapped!
Today we were lucky enough to play on a sheltered court, the atmosphere was amazing because we were on a court next to a stadium where a taekwondoe competition was taking place! Negeri Sembilan school were very tough opponents as they showed aggression and used tactics we weren't used to, causing us to work harder to obtain the ball; we chose their center as the player of the match and Izzy Snaas was awarded our player of the match. In the end we won 20-11 and were presented with a gold plaque and a scrumptious lunch afterwards. Unfortunately, we had two injuries one was on Livi Peacock when she intercepted the ball very well however was elbowed in the back extremely hard, and I sprained my wrist meaning I can not play any of the following matches in KL but will hopefully be able to play in Singapore. Everyone played extremely well and we are very happy with the win, tomorrow should be a better day with less injuries and more wins!
B team match report 1, by Corynne Foote
Yesterday was our first match in Kuala Lumpur against a team called Alice Smith School. Our team played amazingly, winning 19-11, which Kristi and Sabrina helped us get with their great shooting. Everyone worked extremely hard although it was very hot and humid, and the subs were very encouraging cheering the team on! After the match we had a small ceremony where we presented Alice Smith with a DC netball and shamal, to thank them for having us and supplying us with water and oranges.
